SeniorCare Emergency Medical Services is a state of the art ambulance service dedicated to serving the needs of the geriatric population. SeniorCare E.M.S. is dedicated to providing “Clinical Excellence and Outstanding Customer Service” to all of our patients and their caregivers.
SeniorCare E.M.S. has experienced unprecedented growth. We began operating in April of 2005 with a handful of employees and three ambulances servicing five accounts in the Bronx and Queens. Since that time we have grown to over three hundred employees, with over fifty ambulances, five response vehicles, and over one hundred accounts in all five boroughs. We have revolutionized the ambulance field with the way we do business and the “Clinical Excellence and Outstanding Customer Service” we provide.
We are leading the way with our service innovations to the nursing home population, which includes having an Assistant Director of Nursing Services (ADNS) on staff. Every one of our employees, prior to their first shift, goes through a thorough orientation given by the Chief of Operations. This orientation includes an overview given by the ADNS on patient rights, special considerations for treating and transporting the geriatric population, customer service in the healthcare setting, and patient safety just to name a few. One of our marketing innovations has been to install a red phone with no keypad on it that direct dials to our communications center. This enables the nurses to not have to remember phone numbers and they can easily find the phone in the event they misplace their glasses and an emergency is unfolding around them.
As one of our many visionary practices, SeniorCare E.M.S. is one of the only commercial ambulance companies in New York State to have automated external defibrillators on every basic life support ambulance. We believe that a patient should always be cared for above the standard of care. Additionally, we are different than many ambulance companies in that we have two medically trained personnel on every ambulance, not a driver and a medical staff person.
As part of our top of line customer service we provide training and education on a wide variety of topics that affect senior health and the geriatric population; topics such as emergency evacuation training and planning, customer service in the health care setting, and first aid just to name a few. We at SeniorCare E.M.S. take customer service very seriously. We treat each and every client and patient as we would want a close family member to be treated. Due to the devotion that we have to customer service complaints and issues are few and far between.
On the community involvement side, we take pride in giving back to the community. We provided an ambulance and crew to some of our facilities on “Take Your Child to Work Day.” The crew entertained the children by showing them the inside of the ambulance, letting the children play with the flashing lights, and took pictures of them in the driver’s seat of the ambulance. We were the only commercial ambulance involved in providing first aid, emergency medical services and transport at the 2007 United Stated Open in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. The Tennis Association, its patrons and workers commended us on the fine staff that worked at the Open and on the excellent job we did and eagerly invited us back next year in an expanded capacity. Additionally, we support the local volunteer ambulance corps. When they do not have a crew available they call SeniorCare E.M.S. and we provide them with a crew and an ambulance to get the patient to the hospital.
SeniorCare E.M.S. is proud of its employees and as such work very hard to take care of them. In addition to the annual company holiday party, we have held town hall meetings where staff members come to talk, share and discuss issues and topics that affect them and SeniorCare E.M.S. We have continuing medical education courses open to all our staff so we can all hone our skills in the field and the classroom. All of our supervisors and marketing personnel keep a fully stocked cooler with drinks and a bag of snacks in their vehicles, so while making rounds going from facility to facility the crews can be hydrated and taken care of. We at SeniorCare E.M.S. realize that we are only as good as our people and we work extra hard to appreciate and take care of them.
SeniorCare E.M.S. is the only ambulance company in the region to be run by a paramedic with over 19 years of experience. We are a clinically based company with a clinical person at the helm.
We at SeniorCare E.M.S. take pride in what we do and immensely enjoy the line of work we are in. We instill in each and every one of our staff members and employees that every single patient they treat and transport could very well be them one day and everyone patient needs to be treated with dignity and respect each and every single time with no exceptions.
We realize that most people do not want to be in a nursing home. If they are in a nursing home, they certainly do not want to be in the back of the ambulance going anywhere. That extra smile and respect we give the patient goes a long way towards making a bad experience a little more bearable.
